All vehicle manufacturers are covered including American. The process varies from each manufacturer. Some cars are corrected by simply connecting a diagnostic cable to the vehicles diagnostic port, while others need the instrument cluster removed to access the microchip. The time varies from 20 minutes to 3 hours on more complex vehicles.
